Platinum Membership

Platinum Members are the bedrock of our success. Platinum Members give us the financial strength to maintain a significant presence in a very red county and for that we are grateful.
With the support of our Platinum members, we've created an interactive website, our own voter database, and a permanent headquarters in the heart of Geauga County. We are one of the very few Ohio counties to maintain a year-round campaign headquarters to welcome fellow Democrats and gather for events. The Biden, Rader, Obama, Clinton, and Strickland Campaigns as well as The Ohio Democratic Party have all used our headquarters to hit the ground early in their campaigns.
This year, we launched an aggressive campaign against Issue 1 and the results are informative. Geauga had the highest voter percentage of any of the 88 counties in Ohio! Geauga County also had the largest swing from the Biden voter percentage to the Vote NO percentage in the entire State. We engaged voters on multiple levels in many counties. One example was the 11,000 handwritten postcards our volunteers sent urging voters to stop the Issue 1 power grab. Just the cost of the postage for that campaign was over $5,000.
In 2022, our members distributed tens of thousands of Ryan and Whaley signs across fifty-eight Ohio Counties. Every Nan Whaley for Governor sign you saw in 2022 was initially paid for and distributed by members of our County Party. In 2020, our members distributed over 120,000 campaign signs across 58 Ohio counties.

None of this would be possible without our Platinum Members. They represent the main way we fund our Party and pay for our headquarters. In 2022, we had more Platinum members than ever before. This year we hit another record for Paltinum members.

The combination of funding from our Platinum, Sustaining, and Club members and the thousands of hours invested by our volunteers give us the staying power to defeat the efforts of those who would limit our freedoms. It gives us the staying power to support candidates that share our values. Everyone at our Party is a volunteer. No one gets paid.
In past years, the Geauga Democratic Party has hosted US Senator Sherrod Brown, Judge Mary Jane Trapp, Ohio Supreme Court Justices Jennifer Brunner and Michael Donnelly, County Counsel Vice President Cheryl Stephens, State Party Chair Elizabeth Walters, as well as former office holders Tim Ryan, Nan Whaley, Bill O'Neill, John Patterson, Tom Wright, Ted Strickland, Frances Strickland, Capri Cafaro, Lee Fisher, Armon Budish, Richard Cordray, Melody Stewart, Todd Portune, Mark Schneider, Geauga Sheriff Dan McClellan, Joe Schavoni, David Pepper and TV celebrity Jerry Springer.

Despite being in a red county, we've had many victories. In 2007, we helped to elect Governor Ted Strickland with a 57% victory in Geauga County.

In 2008, we played a pivotal role in getting Judge Cannon appointed to the 11th District Court of Appeals. In 2010, we helped elect Tom Wright to the Court of Appeals and in 2016 we helped re-elect him to that same position.

In 2011, we helped to elect Terri Stupica, the first female Judge ever to serve in a Geauga County courtroom. In 2012, we helped Judge Bill O'Neill win a seat on the Ohio Supreme Court and we assisted Senator Capri Cafaro win her re-election bid after being redistricted.
We helped Judge Rice and Judge Cannon win re-election in 2014. In the 2019, 2017, 2015, 2013, and 2011 elections we assisted Democrats in school board, council, and township races. We now have 24 Democrats that serve voters in Geauga County.

In 2014, 2016, and 2018 we helped Dr. Patterson retain his seat in the Ohio Legislature.
In 2017, Judge Terri Stupica was re-elected with no opposition and five new Democrats were elected to local offices.

In 2018 we helped to elect Melody Stewart and Michael Donnelly to the Ohio Supreme Court and returned Mary Jane Trapp to the 11th District Court of Appeals.

In 2020, we helped the Biden/Harris team run up a 7,000,000 national vote plurality to win a decisive victory. We also worked hard to elect Judge Jennifer Brunner to the Ohio Supreme Court giving Democrats three out of the seven seats on that Court. We helped to return Judge Cindy Rice to the 11th District Court of Appeals and hosted Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley at our Steak Roast and Congressman Tim Ryan at our Annual Dinner.

In 2022, we welcomed three statewide candidates, a state representative and Judge Tom Wright at our Steakroast. On October 29, we hosted all three Supreme Court candidates at our Annual Dinner.
All this activity takes planning, energy, cooperation, patience, and dedication by scores of committed members. Some members choose to go Platinum. Some join as Sustaining members. Some join the Club. Some of our members don't have the time to volunteer and choose to provide funds to facilitate our operation. Everyone contributes in their own way. Some of our members do it all. They volunteer their time and treasure. Why not join us as a Platinum Member? You are pre-paid for most of our events and receptions.
